Helene Response Update, September 30, 2024
Heart to Heart International (HHI) is responding to the widespread devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. An assessment team has been deployed to Florida to evaluate the urgent needs of impacted communities. After consulting with local partners and government agencies, HHI sent an additional team to North Carolina to assess the flooding situation in the western part of the state. It is expected that the area will have extensive needs.
More than 20,000 hygiene kits are being sent to partners and healthcare facilities throughout Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina. Additional requests for hygiene kits, medicine and medical supplies are being processed and prepared for shipment. HHI's Mobile Medical Unit and medical team is on stand-by and will be stationed in the area that requires the most immediate assistance, as determined in coordination with state emergency operations centers.
The destruction caused by Hurricane Helene is immense, and the need for support is great across all three states. HHI remains committed to providing essential medical care and medical and hygiene supplies to those affected, ensuring that our aid reaches those most in need.
